Three Ways We're Celebrating Thinking Of You Week

It's Thinking of You Week and we've been proud to be a champion of this event in our community and online. Here are three ways we've been celebrating Thinking Of You Week in 2026.

Thinking Of You Week is an annual event designed to encourage people to send more cards. Created by the Greeting Card Association (The GCA), this event raises awareness of the power of a handwritten card.

The Thinking Of You Week website states: "The fact that you have spent the time to make or choose a card, write it, and send it makes the person receiving it feel far more special and cared for than receiving instant texts, emails or other social media messages.

"Cards are displayed in the home and many are kept for years, providing a reminder of the person that has sent it and of your relationship with them. Greeting cards are also great social history as design and messaging changes with each generation."

Here at The Art File, we have always been proud champions of Thinking Of You Week. We're strong believers in not always needing an occasion to send a card to someone you care about. This year we've been thrilled to take part by promoting Thinking Of You cards online and in our community. Here are three ways we're celebrating Thinking Of You Week this year.

For this week only, we're giving away a free card per person on our website from our Thinking Of You Week card collection. Simply add a card from this collection to your basket and just pay for postage! Whether you want to send a card to someone close to you or save it for something special - this card is on us. 

We've filled four local coffee shops with free cards. If you're local to Nottingham city, you can head to Blend (Contemporary and Sneinton) Dispatch, Delilahs and Effy to find a free card to go with your coffee! Just head to one of these shops and take a free card from the counter with your purchase!

We've been proud to partner with One More Chapter, a local bookshop in Radcliffe on Trent, to bring over 200 Thinking Of You Cards to Cropwell Bishop Primary school. This initiative helps to teach children about card sending and encourages them to write more message to those they care about. 

The children at the school will have the choice to send a card to someone close to them or write a nice message for it to be sent to a care home nearby.

Thinking Of You Week is all about encouraging card sending to those around us. Take part this week by writing a hand-written note or card to someone you care about, or to someone you speak to! Choose one of our free cards online or write something yourself to share with a loved one.
