Thinking of You Week 2020

17 September 2020

The Art File are excited to be taking part in Thinking of You Week again this year, with bigger plans than ever before. We’ll be celebrating Thinking of You Week by encouraging the sending of cards and delivering of smiles within the local community this September.

We're working with local care home Leawood Manor, QMC’s children’s ward, and local charity Base51 to encourage a surge in card-sending next week. Each location will be provided with a box of The Art File’s best ‘thinking of you cards’ - and we will also be posting the cards once they have been written - to make it as easy as possible for people to reach out to their loved ones through the well-loved tradition of card sending. We have a great selection of
'thinking of you' cards - funny, cute, or sophisticated - that you can browse on our online shop. We’ll also be documenting how our community's card-writing goes throughout the week in the hopes of inspiring even more people to reach out to loved ones in this way.

Our Managing Director Ged Mace says ‘the power of the written word combined with our desire to connect with friends and loved ones means that greeting cards are now more important than ever’. With this in mind, The Art File are making sure this powerful connection is created during Thinking of You Week by providing cards free of charge to places such as care homes, schools, and hospitals so that everyone has the chance to spread the love.

‘Kindness, consideration, compassion, appreciation and the wish to stay connected with family and friends have been reoccurring desires that have resounded across the nation during the past six months’, and these values have been the driving factor behind The Art File’s mission to help people send a card during Thinking of You Week. Ged also points out that ‘at the peak of the lockdown, when Captain Tom completed his amazing fundraising achievement, it was the Birthday card that tens of thousands of people chose to express their gratitude with to this national hero’, proving that card sending is an important part of people’s expressions of emotion and appreciation. The Art File want to bring this to the local community, and make sending a physical, meaningful message to a loved one as easy as possible to mark Thinking of You Week.

We’ll also be joining the online Thinking of You Week campaign, with plenty of updates about our activities, inspiration for card sending, and even a competition on social media - the prize being a fantastic ‘thinking of you’ card bundle so the winner can continue spreading the positive message of Thinking of You Week throughout the year!
