Spring Fair 2020 Preview

23 January 2020

After a highly successful start to the year at Top Drawer and Scotland’s Trade Fair, The Art File are now gearing up for the biggest trade show of the year: Spring Fair. Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from the 2nd – 4th February, we’ll be in Hall 2, Stand L01, continuing to showcase the 2020 everyday collections that were received extremely well at Top Drawer as well as launching our Christmas 2020 collections. Ged Mace, Managing Director, says that greeting cards have a new home in Hall 2 and we have used this opportunity to design a brand new stand for The Art File, which will showcase all our new collections for 2020, as well as acting as the ideal platform to launch our 2020 Christmas collection. We look forward to seeing you there!’

With 316 new everyday products launched in 2020, there’s something for every customer. We’re proud of our forward-thinking collection inspired by Japanism, which is a growing trend for next year. Sakura Heights features cranes, koi, and of course the cherry blossom tree that the collection is named after. With beautifully bright, fresh colour combinations and illustrations, this design really is special. Versatility for greeting card publishers is key and that’s why we’ve also created a fantastic but contrasting card range for men called Vertigo. The impressive, eye-teasing collection of birthday and occasion cards is aptly named, because a vertigo sensation is created by the designs, enhanced by a clever use of hot foils. This, along with a dash of humour, has so far been successful in stopping customers in their tracks! We have also delved into the world of minimalism and mindfulness. Balance is inspired by the art movements of Bauhaus and Modernism, and in such a busy world, offers simplicity and a space to breathe. The balance of colour, textured hot foils, and debossed lines combine beautifully to produce this unique collection.

We’ve also made sure to keep customer favourites. One of our best-selling licenses Sara Miller London has created a brand new range called Lyla Marnie, 12 new designs to add to her current everyday collection, and some highly requested milestone age cards. These consist of beautiful, vibrant designs, and are finished with delicate gold foil and emboss detail. A brand new licensed artist for this year is Kate Heiss, the creative mind behind Nature Trail. This collection is inspired by the beautiful natural landscapes of East Anglia and combines florals, bold colours and geometric patterns. The heavy debossing accentuates the designs beautifully, which have been created by linocut printing.

A huge part of Spring Fair for The Art File is launching our 2020 Christmas collection, this year made up of over 150 new products. Christmas is the most important trading period of the year for us and for our customers, so we understand the importance of producing beautiful, high-quality greeting card and gift wrap collections. The Art File’s vast experience, built up over the years, makes us a proven destination for Christmas products. Our Luxury Christmas Boxes, which picked up ‘Best Christmas Box’ at the most recent Henries Awards, are an essential part of any retailer’s festive offering. We’re delighted to announce that we’re launching nine brand new designs, as well as carrying over last year’s best sellers from the 2019 campaign. These are a great option for people wanting to send a higher-quality Christmas card to close family and friends.

Our Christmas Trio Box Cards are great value for money, and their award-winning format has also performed exceptionally well. Each box contains 12 cards, 4 each of three separate designs, with TRIX02 voted ‘Best Christmas Box’ at The Henries Awards 2018. Linda Duggan, our Business Development Manager for the Midlands, spends her time meeting with our retailers and customers, so we asked her for some feedback on our festive collections to give you insight into their performance: ‘Christmas 2019 was a huge success with the range being extremely well received by retailers of all levels and demographic. Sales were increased considerably from 2018 and have left our customers excited for the 2020 launch.’

Retailers know The Art File not only for award-winning Christmas products, but also for the huge variety that we offer. Linda told us ‘customers loveour Charity Pack range and the on-trend designs are extremely appealing to allages.’ Last year, due to high demand, we added Dementia UK and the RSCPA to the charities that will benefit from the essential funds raised by the Christmas Charity Packs.

Single Christmas cards have also grown in popularity and allow people to put a lot of thought into choosing a Christmas card that will mean something to a loved one. Whether you want something heartfelt or funny, classy or cute, we’ve got something for you. Linda told us that ‘single cards are a huge winner and feedback from our key retailers confirms that we have a design-led range that is value for money.’

Our gift wrapping collections are strongly regarded as a refreshing alternative to mainstream wrap offers, and this year we have added five brand new looks to give your festive display a winning edge. From frosty blues and silvers in Sapphire & Snow, to bold reds and beautifully hand-drawn elements in Robins, there’s something for everyone.

We look forward to saying hello at the show this year. As always, if you have any questions about our upcoming shows, new products, or anything else, please send an email to sales@theartfile.com and we’ll be happy to help.
