Zazous Editions are our amazing French distributors, and we've been working together for several years now to deliver Art File products to many amazing retailers across France.

We asked our brilliant friends at Zazous to tell us a bit about how they got started as an organisation. They told us that, under their former name Laurent Reiz Editions, the company was created “in January 1999, and first devoted itself to publishing and distributing photographic postcards. The distribution of the Plonk and Replonk greeting cards more than 20 years ago gave this family business a new direction, making us the distributor of independents and small European companies on French territory.”

Zazous went on to say that “we put together our collections as a collective of creators, working with photographers, painters, creatives of all kinds, graphic designers, modellers and printers, and respecting fairness among all players in the chain. Postcards of photographic views, graphic cards, laser cut cards, hand-made or printed cards, wooden cards, perfumed cards - you name it! The collections are renewed several times a year and evolve according to the seasons and the shops’ needs. All the greeting cards distributed by Zazous Editions are created and designed in Europe, and showcased mainly in independent bookstores throughout France.”

We also wanted to find out how they find working with The Art File over the years. They said “Zazous Editions started working with The Art File in 2012 when Laurent Reiz went to his first trade show in the UK. On The Art File stand, he discovered a diversity in the choice of collections combined with an extreme quality in the card finishes that are still the trademark of The Art File. But the encounter with The Art File was also a human story. The understanding both companies have always shared and the facility of the teams to work together have built a strong relationship over the years. We are proud to work together with The Art File and to support them on our market as they support us.” We’re incredibly proud to work together too, and are thankful for the brilliant working relationship and friendship that we have!

Next, we asked them the hard stuff - what are your favourite collections from The Art File? They said “this is a very difficult question to answer. We love all the collections we have chosen for our customers, and we work every day to showcase The Art File products in our market.” When it came to a specific range, they told us “we love the humour Robert J. Reader shows in his timeless collection Ink Press, as well as the Rock On range. We have recently had a crush on the collections created by Michael Cailloux, a French designer we are fond of.”

Next, we wanted to know more about the amazing stockists who take The Art File product with Zazous Editions. They said “we place The Art File cards everywhere; in all kind of shops, and all over France. The specificities of the stockists and their customers vary in design. The fact is that The Art file creates a large variety of collections, so whilst some of our stockists sell more FORM cards, others work better with classical designs such as Sara Miller London.” And if they had to name one? “Maybe we’ll highlight the bookstore La Machine à Lire in Bordeaux where all of The Art File's collections are working with none left behind – although this could be because the city of Bordeaux is considered as a very British town!”

We’re incredibly thankful for the wonderful friendship between The Art File in the UK and Zazous Editions in France. Zazous clearly have a real passion for a collaborative way of working with beautiful designs. It’s wonderful to see our products being so expertly shared across the channel!
